State Executive Order-Shelter in Place for non-essential personnel

Governor Whitmer has issued Executive Orders 2020-21 “Temporary requirement to suspend activities that are not necessary to sustain or protect life” and 2020-15, “Temporary authorization of remote participation in public meetings and hearings and temporary relief from monthly meeting requirements for school boards”

The 2020-21 order was issued in response to the COVID-19 threat and requires non-essential personnel in the State of Michigan to shelter in place until April 14th. City Hall employees are largely deemed “essential” under the order and will continue to operate and maintain all critical infrastructure and service including police, fire and public works including water and wastewater service.

The 2020-15 order was issued in response to the COVID-19 threat and allows the City to suspend certain requirements under the Open Meetings Act law in order to continue to operate without putting gatherings of the public at risk by attending meetings of the government. At this time, the City intends to still hold important and necessary meetings remotely and electronically to the best of our ability. The City will allow for public comment at all meetings held during this time period but may require those public comments to be e-mailed or called in via phone as permitted under EO 2020-15. The City will also continue to broadcast our meetings live via the City’s Youtube channel and will continue to make the meeting Agendas and Packets available to the public as soon as possible. As always, those Agendas and Packets are available on the City’s website here.

It is extremely important that the citizens of the City and the State of Michigan continue to follow the CDC’s guidelines for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 during this shelter in place order and maintain a 6 foot social separation with any person not from your own family.

Any thoughts, questions or concerns regarding the City’s operations during the time please e-mail the City Manager at manager@cityofcedarsprings.org or contact the City through this websites Contact page: https://cityofcedarsprings.org/contact/
