The City of Cedar Springs is seeking applications from citizens interested in serving on the City’s Planning Commission. The Planning Commission is responsible for administration of the City’s zoning ordinances and the approval of proposed site plans and land uses.
This volunteer position is great for any citizen who is interested in public service, local government and local land use issues. Members of the Planning Commission work closely with the City Planner, City Manager and City Council to review plans for new businesses or neighborhoods and help write the laws for zoning issues (like how tall can a fence be or where businesses can put signs).
The City Council is interested in applications from reasonable and open minded persons with a strong interest in decision making for the good of the community.
Time commitments are generally for 1-2 hours per month and a meeting generally held on the first Tuesday of each month.
If interested, please submit the application found here to City Hall: http://dev.cityofcedarsprings.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/boards-and-commissions-application.pdf
