To ensure that the City’s Code remains legally sound and accurate, it is recommended to complete full recodification of the Code every 5 to 10 years. Conflicts in the Code of Ordinances can arise over time due to changes in state statutes, errors, and inconsistencies in maintaining the printed versions, and the adoption of local ordinances that may conflict with existing state law.
The City of Cedar Springs last recodified the Code of Ordinances in 2009. Municode and municipal staff have made several recommended changes to update the Code of Ordinances.
