City code and ordinance enforcement is accomplished by several different groups and persons. The Kent County Sheriff’s Department, Cedar Springs Fire Department, building inspector, city manager and code enforcement officer all are tasked with enforcement of different laws within the City of Cedar Springs.
The primary contact for general code enforcement related issues is the code enforcement officer who may be contacted at codeenforcement@cityofcedarsprings.org or 616-696-1330 x341
The City code enforcement officer applies city ordinances that have been approved by the City Council. The City’s ordinances can be found here.
The code enforcer also uses the International Property Maintenance Code which is adopted as city law under Chapter 10 Article III of the code of ordinances. The IPMC establishes minimum requirements for the maintenance of existing buildings and yards.
