Mike Womack was hired by the City of Cedar Springs in 2016 to serve as the City Manager.
Prior to joining Cedar Springs Mike worked 8 years as an attorney in Michigan and Pennsylvania, practicing primarily in Criminal Law, Juvenile Law, Probate Law and Oil and Gas/Property Law. While practicing law, Mike earned his Master’s in Public Administration degree from Central Michigan University in 2015 and served a year-long internship with the Managers of both the City of Eastpointe and the Village of Lake Orion, Michigan.
As City Manager, Mike has worked hard to simplify and streamline municipal processes to make the government easier to work with for both businesses and citizens. He has revisited a number of business related ordinances to make them more business friendly and believes that local government should work to serve the public in a friendly and transparent manner. Mike believes in taking a fair and pragmatic approach to addressing municipal issues and tries to balance citizen concerns with legal requirements.
Mike is a member of the Michigan Municipal Executives, MME Nextgen Committee, Michigan Association of Planning and the Michigan State Bar. He also serves on various boards and committees as the representative for the City.
Outside of the office, Mike is married and has 3 dogs and a chinchilla. He enjoys running, world travel and astronomy.
