The Cedar Springs Area Parks & Recreation Board was created in January 1986 as a public authority. In 2019, the organization changed its name to North Kent Community Enrichment to better reflect its ongoing mission to provide sports, recreation and also its community enrichment activities.
The North Kent Community Enrichment Board is a unique partnership between Cedar Springs Public Schools, the City of Cedar Springs and Nelson, Solon, Algoma and Courtland Townships. The Board was established for the purpose of planning and administering a system of public recreation and community enrichment for the citizens of its member municipal units.
The North Kent Community Enrichment board, consists of two representatives from the City of Cedar Springs, Algoma, Courtland, Nelson, and Solon Townships and the Cedar Springs Public Schools. They hired Director Amanda Gerhardt in the fall of 2006.
